Soccer Game Preview: Walpole vs. Needham

Walpole is 0-10 against Needham since October of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Timberwolves will head out on the road to square off against the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. Walpole has given up an average of 3.5 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Walpole came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Natick, falling 6-2. While losing is never fun, Walpole can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Natick are ranked 15th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Needham). Everything went their way against Braintree on Thursday as they made off with a 5-0 win. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded Needham with their most commanding win of the season.

Needham has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for Walpole, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
