Baseball Game Preview: Linton-Stockton Miners vs. Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots

The Linton-Stockton Miners will head out to take on the Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Linton-Stockton fell victim to Clay City and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eels. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Terre Haute North Vigo came out on top against Parke Heritage on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Patriots blew past the Wolves 12-1. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Brady Stepp looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Chase Millington and Brayden Dean did most of the damage at the plate: Millington went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Dean went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Millington a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Millington, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Terre Haute North Vigo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parke Heritage only posted an OBP of .318.

Terre Haute North Vigo's record is now 9-3. As for Linton-Stockton, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Linton-Stockton came out on top in a nail-biter against Terre Haute North Vigo when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Miners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
