Volleyball Preview: First Coast Buccaneers vs. Raines Vikings

The First Coast Buccaneers will head out to take on the Raines Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, First Coast was able to grind out a solid win over ED White, taking the game 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.

First Coast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JADA-EVE CLAIBORNE, who had 25 digs, six kills, and two aces. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: CLAIBORNE now had ten or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of MARKAYLA SMILEY, who had 13 digs, ten kills, and five aces.

Meanwhile, Raines had just enough and edged Englewood out 3-2 on Tuesday.

Raines took Englewood into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 20-25, 15-13.

First Coast is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Raines, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

First Coast was able to grind out a solid win over Raines when the teams last played back in August, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for First Coast since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
