Baseball Game Preview: DuPont Manual Crimsons vs. Male Bulldogs

The DuPont Manual Crimsons will square off against the Male Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. DuPont Manual has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

DuPont Manual came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-6 to Spencer County. The Crimsons' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Male). They blew past Fern Creek 15-4 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on West Bickett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kaiden Ford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Male kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.

Male's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for DuPont Manual, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.
