Baseball Preview: Buffalo Gap Bison vs. Fort Defiance Indians        
        
		
            Buffalo Gap is 2-8 against Fort Defiance since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Tuesday. The Bison will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians  at 5:30  p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Buffalo Gap has four straight  victories, Fort Defiance has seven straight  defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Buffalo Gap is headed in fresh off scoring the most  runs they have   all season. They were the clear victors by  a  17-4 margin over Stonewall Jackson on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bison with their most commanding win of the  season.
 Cal Loan made a big impact no matter where he played. He  struck out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits. Loan was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances.

 In other batting news,  Dalton Coffey and  Cooper Simmons did most of the damage at the plate:  Coffey  went 2-for-4 with three  runs, four  RBI,  and one  stolen base, while  Simmons  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances. Buffalo Gap is 3-1 when  Simmons posts two or  more  runs, but 2-3 otherwise.  Grayson McCall was another key player,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Buffalo Gap  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .561. That's the best  OBP they've posted all season.
 Fort Defiance had taken Staunton down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end  on Thursday. The Indians fell just short of the Storm by a score of  6-5.
 Buffalo Gap pushed their record up to 5-4 with the  win, which was their third straight  on the road. Those  road  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Defiance, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
 Buffalo Gap came up short against Fort Defiance in their previous matchup  back in May of 2024, falling  8-3. Can the Bison avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
