Englewood Stem won the last time they faced Dyett and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles, sneaking past 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The team relied heavily on Joe Love, who earned one run and three stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Marshaun Todd also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Englewood Stem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in five consecutive games.

Englewood Stem's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dyett, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Englewood Stem will head out to square off against Perspectives Leadership/Technology at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Dyett, they will venture away from home to challenge Harlan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
