Softball Game Preview: Tehachapi Warriors vs. Paraclete Spirits

The Tehachapi Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Paraclete Spirits at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Tehachapi will be strutting in after a win while Paraclete will be coming in after a loss.

Tehachapi took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Taft by a score of 5-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Cadence McIrvin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayden Grigsby, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Roed, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Paraclete has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.87 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell just short of Saint Joseph by a score of 10-9. The loss was the Spirits' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Paraclete fell to 13-1-1. As for Tehachapi, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.

Tehachapi suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Paraclete when the teams last played on Friday. Can Tehachapi avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
