Preview: Stone Bridge Bulldogs vs. Matoaca Warriors

Stone Bridge is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Matoaca is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Stone Bridge Bulldogs will take on the Matoaca Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Stone Bridge walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 29-6 margin over the Falcons.

Stone Bridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Pena led the charge by throwing for 120 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Troy Marquez, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Matoaca's offense rose to the challenge against a Colonels defense that boasted an average of only 16.62 points allowed. Matoaca claimed a resounding 42-3 win over Fleming at home.

Matoaca can attribute much of their success to Montino Williams jr, who rushed for 114 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Matoaca's defense and their four sacks. Fleming's QB won't forget Jaedin Lee anytime soon given Lee sacked him twice.

Stone Bridge's victory bumped their record up to 7-4-1. As for Matoaca, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
