Softball Game Preview: Fargo South Bruins vs. Valley City Hi-Liners

Fargo South is 0-7 against Valley City since May of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Bruins will challenge the Hi-Liners at 4:30 p.m. Fargo South has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fargo South's last matchup with Shanley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. The Bruins came up short against the Deacons, falling 27-6. The defeat leaves the Bruins still looking for their first win of the season.

Meanwhile, Valley City fell victim to Sheyenne and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 40-0 to the Mustangs. The Hi-Liners have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Fargo South's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Valley City, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fargo South has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like Valley City struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Fargo South couldn't quite get it done against Valley City in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 17-12. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
