Softball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Takes a Loss

Notre Dame Prep blew Horizon out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Horizon got their revenge. Notre Dame Prep fell just short of Horizon by a score of 6-4. The Saints' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Sammy Swords was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Spokas, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Notre Dame Prep's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-4. As for Horizon, they moved to 7-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Notre Dame Prep will square off against rival Desert Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Notre Dame Prep 2.4, Desert Mountain 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Horizon is set to take on their familiar foe Arizona College Prep at 3:45 p.m. on April 7.
