Softball Recap: Reese Thomas Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Creekview

Wakeland put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Creekview Mustangs a 15-0 shutout. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Jordan Mcnees looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reese Thomas was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lauren McIllwain, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Wakeland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive contests.

Wakeland's record now sits at 19-4. As for Creekview, they dropped their record down to 16-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Wakeland is set to square off against their familiar foe Lone Star at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolverines 2.8, the Rangers 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Creekview will take on rival The Colony at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
