Basketball Recap: Valley Falls Dragons vs. Troy Trojans
Valley Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Troy Trojans, falling 70-23. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-11 back in December of 2024.
Harper Whetstine was a one-woman wrecking crew for Troy as she dropped a double-double with 24 points and 16 steals. Allie Franken was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.
Valley Falls' loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Troy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
Looking ahead, Valley Falls will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Riverside [Wathena/Elwood] at 6:00 p.m. As for Troy, they will head out to square off against Pleasant Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Troy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
