Baseball Game Preview: Show Low Cougars vs. Winslow Bulldogs

For the first time this season, Show Low will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will challenge the Winslow Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Show Low will be strutting in after a victory while Winslow will be coming in after a defeat.

Show Low will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Florence, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. Show Low blew past Florence 10-0 on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Show Low got a massive performance out of Karter Alexander, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Kash Perkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Show Low was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Winslow came up short against Odyssey Institute on Wednesday, falling 16-4. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zack Sanchez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brendan Knight, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Show Low and bumps their season record up to 5-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Winslow, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4-1.

Everything went Show Low's way against Winslow in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Show Low made off with a 23-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Show Low since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
