Hamlin came tearing into Thursday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 71-24 win over the Deuel Cardinals. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Cardinals are ranked 34th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hamlin's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points over those games. As for Deuel, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Coming up, Hamlin will challenge St. Thomas More at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Thomas More will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Hamlin surely won't give up without a fight. As for Deuel, they will welcome Redfield at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
