Basketball Game Preview: Wasatch Academy Tigers vs. Archbishop Wood Vikings

The Wasatch Academy Tigers and the Archbishop Wood Vikings will round out the year against one another at at 1:50 p.m. on Sunday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Wasatch Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Varsity Opponent by a score of 83-80 on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (62), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Wasatch Academy got top-tier performance from Isiah Harwell, who posted 26 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Harwell a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was James Miller, who had 16 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Wasatch Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Wood entered their tilt with Malvern Prep on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 78-74 win over the Friars.

Archbishop Wood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.7 points per game. As for Wasatch Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

Wasatch Academy beat Archbishop Wood 89-77 when the teams last played back in December of 2019. Does Wasatch Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Archbishop Wood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
