Basketball Game Preview: South Platte Blue Knights vs. Paxton Tigers

South Platte is 0-10 against Paxton since December of 2014 but things could change on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the South Platte Blue Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Paxton Tigers at 5:15 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, everything came up roses for South Platte against Arthur County as the team secured a 66-36 win. The Blue Knights have beaten the Wolves the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolves has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Paxton's game on Friday was all tied up 13-13 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-31 victory over Sandhills Valley. The 34-point effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Paxton's win came from a few key players South Platte will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tanner Hebblethwaite, who posted nine points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jasper Brewster, who had two points and nine boards.

South Platte's record now sits at 11-8. As for Paxton, their record now sits at 12-6.

Things could have been worse for South Platte, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-48 loss to Paxton in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can South Platte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
