Volleyball Recap: Madison Falls to Asheville in First Game of Season

Madison had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 3-1 to the Asheville Cougars. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-12, 19-25, 25-18.

Layla Rhinehart paced Madison's offense, picking up nine kills. Rhinehart got some help from Meredith Gault and her 20 assists. Gault was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Madison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Tuscola on the 14th. As for Asheville, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Hendersonville on the 14th.
