Baseball Recap: Pinnacle Classical Academy Comes Up Short

Community Christian Academy hit Pinnacle Classical Academy with a six-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-10 back in March.

Jake McNeilly and Keegan McIntyre were huge no matter where they played even without the win. On the mound, McNeilly struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, McIntyre struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, McNeilly went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while McIntyre went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. McIntyre is becoming a predictor of Pinnacle Classical Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jackson Houser made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Mason Kistler was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Pinnacle Classical Academy now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Community Christian Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinnacle Classical Academy will square off against Mountain View Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Community Christian Academy, they will challenge The Master's Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.08 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
