Softball Recap: Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Liberty

While Lincoln put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Liberty. The Cougars put the hurt on the Mountaineers with a sharp 16-0 victory. Considering the Cougars have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lincoln got a big performance out of Makiah Ford, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Ford's first of the season. Riley Pearlman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will welcome Petersburg at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will host Preston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
