Basketball Game Preview: Okawville Rockets vs. Pinckneyville Panthers

The Okawville Rockets will challenge the Pinckneyville Panthers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Okawville is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Sparta: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Okawville blew Sparta out of the water with a 66-26 final score. With the Rockets ahead 35-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Okawville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brynn Rhodes, who went 8 for 13 to rack up 22 points and five rebounds, and Jenna Hackstadt, who went 7 of 12 en route to 17 points and five boards. What's more, Rhodes also posted a 62% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Addison Hasheider was another key player, putting up seven points.

Okawville was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Pinckneyville beat Benton 44-31 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won four in a row.

Okawville's victory bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Pinckneyville, their win bumped their record up to 20-7.
