Volleyball Recap: Melrose Falls Short Against Ranked Goddard

Melrose faced Goddard in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buffaloes lost 3-0 to the Rockets. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Buffaloes have suffered since October 17, 2024.

Goddard can attribute much of their success to Viviana Varela, who had 14 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Varela has posted over her last seven matches. Tatum Boone also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

With the loss, Melrose broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 7-2. As for Goddard, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Melrose didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Texico on the 27th. As for Goddard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Portales on the 27th.
