Basketball Game Preview: Metcalfe County Hornets vs. Cumberland County Panthers

Metcalfe County has gone 8-2 against Cumberland County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Metcalfe County Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Cumberland County Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Metcalfe County narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Russell County 37-34. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Lakers are ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cumberland County entered their tilt with Casey County on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Rebels 61-38.

Cumberland County has also been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Metcalfe County, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Metcalfe County came out on top in a nail-biter against Cumberland County in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 48-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Metcalfe County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
