Baseball Game Preview: Marshwood Hawks vs. Deering Rams

Marshwood is 7-1 against Deering since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Hawks will head out to take on the Rams at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses dating back to last season for Marshwood and 14 for Deering dating back to last season.

On Thursday, Marshwood came up short against Bonny Eagle and fell 4-1.

Marshwood got a good showing from Sawyer Reimels, who tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reimels has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marshwood saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Eardley, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Deering lost 12-2 to Cheverus on Thursday.

Linden McAuliffe was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Deering's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Marshwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Marshwood was able to grind out a solid victory over Deering when the teams last played back in May of 2025, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
