Basketball Recap: Green City Extends Winning Streak to Six

Green City came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Novinger Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 59-40. Given the Gophers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th in Missouri, while the Wildcats are ranked 408th in Missouri), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Green City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaryn Hatcher out in front who almost dropped a triple-double with 17 points, 13 boards, and nine blocks. The game was Hatcher's 16th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Macy Jeffries, who went 9-for-20 on her way to 22 points and five assists.

Green City's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Novinger, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Coming up, Green City will square off against Princeton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Novinger does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
