Waynesville is 6-1 against Monroe since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Waynesville Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monroe Hornets at 1:15 p.m. Waynesville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Monroe likes a good challenge.

Waynesville is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Oakwood: they outscored them in every quarter. Waynesville took down Oakwood 61-42 on Thursday. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Lumberjacks are ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Monroe earned a 32-24 victory over Edgewood on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Waynesville's win bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Waynesville took their win against Monroe in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 63-39. Will Waynesville repeat their success, or does Monroe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
