Basketball Game Preview: Warren County Wildcats vs. Meridian Mustangs

Warren County is 0-10 against Meridian since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:15 p.m. without much rest, having both just played.

Warren County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 57 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Meridian on Thursday. They were beaten by the Mustangs 56-22. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-12.

Meridian had a senior duo take command as Nora Stufft went 9-for-12 to rack up 18 points in addition to seven boards and four steals and Ellie Friesen went 7-for-12 on her way to 18 points. With that strong performance, Stufft is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Lieu, who posted five points and eight assists.

Meridian is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.9 points over those games. As for Warren County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
