Basketball Game Preview: Kingsford Flivvers vs. Negaunee Miners

The Kingsford Flivvers will take on the Negaunee Miners in a tournament on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Negaunee will be up against a hot Kingsford squad: the team just extended their winning streak to eight. Kingsford breezed past Gladstone to the tune of 73-36 on Wednesday. Given the Flivvers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th in Michigan, while the Braves are ranked 376th in Michigan), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Negaunee got the win against Houghton on Wednesday by a conclusive 67-43. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Kingsford pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games. As for Negaunee, their win bumped their record up to 15-9.

Everything came up roses for Kingsford against Negaunee in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-26 victory. Will Kingsford repeat their success, or does Negaunee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
