Recap: Vista Ridge Rangers vs. Round Rock Dragons
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vandegrift, The Vista Ridge Rangers were happy to have found some success on Friday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 21-20 win over Round Rock. For Vista Ridge, this counts as revenge for the 51-10 loss Round Rock walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Grant Anderson was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 92 yards, and also threw for 87 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Vista Ridge's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kaden Dees.
When it comes to explaining why Round Rock lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mason Cochran. Despite the final result, he rushed for 191 yards and two touchdowns.
Vista Ridge's win was their third straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Round Rock, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Vista Ridge will square off against Dripping Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dripping Springs presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vista Ridge in Texas (Dripping Springs is ranked 36th, while Vista Ridge is ranked 139th). As for Round Rock, they will square off against Westlake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
