Football Recap: Southside Christian Comes Up Short

If Southside Christian was feeling good fresh off their 28-0 takedown of Saluda last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sabres were beaten by the Carolina Forest Panthers 54-13 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Sabres can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Panthers are ranked 28th).

Despite the loss, Southside Christian still got an impressive performance from Keldin Wrona, who picked up 180 receiving yards and one score. Wrona showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 61 yards.

Southside Christian's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Carolina Forest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Southside Christian and Carolina Forest will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Sabres are set to face off against their familiar foe Powdersville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carolina Forest will square off against rival Socastee at 7:05 p.m. on Friday.
