Basketball Recap: Stone Mountain Takes a Loss

Stone Mountain lost against Cedar Grove on January 7th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stone Mountain Pirates took a blow against the Cedar Grove Saints, falling 75-33. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Saints are ranked 11th).

Cedar Grove's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emanuel Green, who posted 18 points. The match was Green's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javonte Floyd, who scored 16 points.

Stone Mountain has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Cedar Grove, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Stone Mountain will look to defend their home court on Monday against Luella at 8:00 p.m. As for Cedar Grove, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-38 win against Mt. Zion on the 25th.
