Baseball Game Preview: Wauconda Bulldogs vs. Lakes Eagles

For the second straight game, Wauconda will face off against Lakes. The Bulldogs will welcome the Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Wauconda is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wauconda and Lakes meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 6-1.

Patrick Shannon tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Rudolph, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Wauconda's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Sickmeir, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The win got Wauconda back to even at 5-5. As for Lakes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
