Softball Recap: Charleston Tigers vs. Cossatot River Eagles
Charleston won the last time they faced Cossatot River and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 13-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Hannah Ward made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Charleston got a massive performance out of Ella Dodson, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that Dodson snagged this season. Leah Oberlies was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
