Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jolene Bao and Olivia Royal Lead Wylie to Victory

Wylie won the last time they faced South Garland and things went their way on Friday too. The Pirates put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Wylie was: they took every set by at least 19 points. The final score came out to 25-3, 25-6, 25-4.

Leading Wylie to victory were Olivia Royal and Jolene Bao. Royal had three digs and three aces, while Bao had six digs and five aces. Royal is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Berkeley Weidinger, who had nine assists and four digs.

They weren't the only good servers: Wylie was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 19 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 12 consecutive matchups.

Wylie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-12 record this season. As for South Garland, they are on a 42-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Coincidentally, Wylie and South Garland will both be playing Lakeview Centennial the next time they take the court. The Pirates will host the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Titans will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
