Football Recap: Ezekiel Academy Starts Season with Victory Against Stewart County

Ezekiel Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Stewart County Royal Knights with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 44-28.

Ezekiel Academy was led to victory by Noah Sawyer and Parker Weston. Sawyer rushed for 205 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries, while Weston rushed for 105 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ezekiel Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 402 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Ezekiel Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Donovan Gentry and Sawyer. Sawyer got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ezekiel Academy will face off against Southern Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Stewart County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westminster Schools of Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
