Soldotna had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past the Kenai Central Kardinals 3-0. That looming 3-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stars yet this season.

While Soldotna won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-22, 25-21.

Leading Soldotna to victory were Grayson Henry and Daisy Samples. Henry had 17 digs and two aces, while Samples had three aces. Those three aces gave Samples a new career-high. Emma Glassmaker also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Soldotna was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Soldotna's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Kenai Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Soldotna and Kodiak will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give the Stars their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Kenai Central, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mountain City Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on the 12th.
