There's no place like home for San Marcos, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Rancho Bernardo Broncos 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Broncos on Wednesday, they had to take a 9-6 defeat.

Isaac Esquer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, San Marcos let Colton Walker and Ethan Martinez run wild. Walker got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, while Martinez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Martinez has posted since back in March.

San Marcos has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Rancho Bernardo, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
