Basketball Recap: Rocky Mount Academy Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

Rocky Mount Academy had won three straight home games and Hank Berry did his part to make it four on Tuesday. The Rocky Mount Academy Eagles strolled past the Lawrence Academy Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 72-56 thanks in part to Berry, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (five).

Wyatt Wells was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Despite the loss, Lawrence Academy still got an impressive performance from Nike Wiggins, who posted 23 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That was a full 41.1% of Lawrence Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Oliver, who put up nine points and five steals.

Rocky Mount Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Lawrence Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rocky Mount Academy and Liberty Christian Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Rocky Mount Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lawrence Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. Lawrence Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
