Baseball Recap: Lovington Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Lovington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 win over the Chaparral Lobos on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Josiah Gauna looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, Jude Madrid was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Auden Parades, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
