Football Recap: California Lutheran Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

California Lutheran had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Hesperia Christian Patriots on Saturday, falling 35-14. The loss continues a trend for the C-Hawks in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost five in a row.

Although California Lutheran took the loss, they still got scores from Isaac Vogel and Tyler Treder.

Noah Griffin was a one-man wrecking crew For Hesperia Christian. as he rushed for 39 yards and two scores, and also picked up 48 receiving yards and one TD. Griffin was even better on defense, picking up 2.5 sacks, making six total tackles (3.5 for loss), and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Hunter Halbrook was another key player, throwing for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Coming up, California Lutheran will challenge United Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hesperia Christian, they will take on Calvin Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
