The Lake Howell Silverhawks will head out on the road to take on the Timber Creek Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Howell is coming into the match hot, having won their last 11 games.
Lake Howell is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against West Orange on Thursday as they made off with a 17-4 win. The Silverhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Nisabella Fatzinger-Rodriguez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Lake Howell got a massive performance out of Skaii Rodriguez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Rodriguez has posted since back in April of 2024. Cate Haggerty also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Lake Howell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Orange only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Timber Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Apopka on Friday and fell 10-9. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Blue Darters recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Katie Jofre-Furno led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jenelly Romero, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.
Lake Howell pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Timber Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Timber Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Lake Howell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Timber Creek, though, as they've been averaging only 2.9 strikeouts. Will Lake Howell keep running through batters, or will the Wolves buck the trend?
