Baseball Game Preview: Whitmire Wolverines vs. Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal

The Whitmire Wolverines will be taking part in a tournament against the Brashier Middle College Charter Bengal at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Whitmire will be strutting in after a victory while Brashier Middle College Charter will be coming in after a loss.

Whitmire is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Friday. Everything went their way against Upstate as Whitmire made off with a 17-11 win.

Brian Steele was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Whitmire let Kingston Green and Blake Stribble run wild. Green scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Stribble scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Stribble has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Crue Keller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Brashier Middle College Charter had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against Landrum, falling 14-0.

Everything went Whitmire's way against Brashier Middle College Charter when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Whitmire made off with a 10-1 victory.
