Basketball Game Preview: Gaither Cowboys vs. Leto Falcons

The Gaither Cowboys will face off against the Leto Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gaither will head into Thursday's match out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were beaten by Wharton 50-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cowboys have suffered since December 11, 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leto). They walked away with a 43-31 win over Lennard on Thursday. The Falcons' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Leto's win came from a few key players Gaither will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaylanny Jimenez, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanaai Taylor, who posted seven points in addition to nine boards and six steals.

Leto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Leto, bringing their record for this year to 3-16. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.7 points per game. As for Gaither, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-12.

Gaither strolled past Leto in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 39-21. Does Gaither have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leto turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
