Soccer Game Preview: Eldorado vs. Sandia

The Eldorado Golden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Sandia Matadors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eldorado is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Santa Fe, who was ranked 24th at the time (Eldorado was ranked 17th). The Golden Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Demons on Wednesday, sneaking past 1-0. The win continues a trend for Eldorado in their matchups with Santa Fe: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Sandia got the win against Manzano on Wednesday by a conclusive 8-1. The result was nothing new for Sandia, who have now won six contests by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Manzano with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Isaiah Ornelas (4), Micah Corona (3), and Mateo Ojeda.

Sandia's victory bumped their record up to 9-2-2. As for Eldorado, their win bumped their record up to 8-4-1.

Everything went Eldorado's way against Sandia when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Eldorado made off with a 5-1 victory. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Matadors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
