Basketball Recap: Isaiah Holley Key Part of a Team Effort in Rams Win

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Rio Vista Rams beat the Mesa Verde Mavericks 48-42.

Rio Vista's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Holley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 boards. Holley's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Fortes, who posted 12 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Rio Vista was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Rio Vista has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Mesa Verde, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rio Vista has already played their next contest (against Highlands), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mesa Verde will head out on the road to challenge Golden Sierra at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Golden Sierra's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games.
