Baseball Game Preview: St. Paul Swordsmen vs. Serra Cavaliers

St. Paul hasn't had much luck against Serra recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Swordsmen will take on the Cavaliers at 3:15 p.m. St. Paul is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

St. Paul's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Santa Fe with a sharp 7-0 win.

Fernie Soto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Elias Mota was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Troy Sibolboro, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Serra had just enough and edged out Leuzinger 4-3 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cavaliers.

St. Paul's record is now 15-7. As for Serra, their record now sits at 14-6.
