Baseball Recap: Sturgeon Bay Starts Season with Victory Against Green Bay Southwest

Sturgeon Bay had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They won by a run and slipped past the Green Bay Southwest Fighting Trojans 4-3. This was payback for the Clippers, who suffered a 12-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Patrick Haese was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Haese was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Haese wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Plzak, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Sturgeon Bay will head out to challenge Marinette at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Green Bay Southwest, they will welcome Clintonville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
