Baseball Recap: Melbourne Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Melbourne Central Catholic fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Cocoa Beach on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cocoa Beach Minutemen by a score of 6-5. The Hustlers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Ryder Widick put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. Widick was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Tanner Garza made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.
