Basketball Recap: Glen Allen Takes a Loss

After flying high against North Stafford last Monday, Glen Allen came back down to earth. The Glen Allen Jaguars were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 61-60 to the Western Branch Bruins. The Jaguars' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Glen Allen lost, don't look at Faron Friend. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Friend's third in a row with at least ten points. Brodey Harper was another key player, putting up nine points.

Glen Allen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Western Branch, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glen Allen and Cosby will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Western Branch will take on Lakeland in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakeland knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Western Branch likes a good challenge.
