Softball Recap: Hamilton County Foxes vs. Crab Orchard Trojans
Hamilton County dropped their record down to 5-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Crab Orchard Trojans by a score of 7-6. The Foxes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Rayci Phelps put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Phelps was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Addison Leathers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
As for Crab Orchard, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 15-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average this season.

Hamilton County has already played their next matchup, a 6-5 victory against Fairfield on the 15th. As for Crab Orchard, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Waltonville on the 17th.
