Softball Recap: Bishop Brady Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Bishop Brady came tearing into Monday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hillsboro-Deering Hillcats by a score of 10-7. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Giants also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Payton Bryson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bishop Brady got a massive performance out of Natalie Sherman, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs. Reese Henry was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run.

Bishop Brady pushed their record up to 8-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hillsboro-Deering, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Hillsboro-Deering will venture away from home to square off against Berlin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop Brady will be paying especially close attention to the Hillcats' game: after the Hillcats face off against Stevens, they'll take on Bishop Brady again at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
